Fundraising Co-ordinator
The Fundraising Co-ordinator is responsible for raising over £130,000 that EWB-UK needs to support our growing programmes in poverty alleviation. We need a charismatic, confident leader who can represent the organisation and inspire people from the man in the street all the way up to board members of multinational engineering firms.

Role description:
- Making a difference - This is essential to raise the funds for EWB-UK to perform its activities towards its mission of facilitating human development through engineering, currently over £130,000 per year. This supports over 30 placements, 10 research projects, 15 bursaries, the national outreach programme and many UK training courses and events every year. In addition to fundraising for current activities, the Fundraising Coordinator also needs to put EWB-UK in a strong position to meet its ambitious fundraising targets for future years, as the charity seeks to increase its impacts.
- Team management - The Fundraising Co-ordinator leads the EWB-UK Fundraising Team of student and professional volunteers to carry out the organisation’s Fundraising Strategy.
- Building existing relationships - Approximately half the time would be spent on supporting members of the Fundraising Team continue existing relationships with corporate, individual and grant funders, with the aim of increasing the level of support and strengthening ties with EWB-UK (through employee involvement etc). The Fundraising Co-ordinator will be personally responsible for maintaining EWB-UK’s relationships with its 3-5 major sponsors.
- New opportunities - Approximately half the time would be spent seeking new potential avenues for funding and working with the team to pursue these effectively. There is significant opportunity for your initiative, creativity and exciting new ideas.
- Nationwide involvement - The Fundraising Co-ordinator will also ensure that EWB-UK’s affiliated university societies are able to play a part in the fundraising strategy, and will provide guidance to them on how to contribute.
- Executive role - As a member of the EWB-UK National Executive, the co-ordinator plays a key part in shaping EWB-UK.
- Reporting structure - You would report directly to the EWB-UK CEO.

Requirements:
- Communication and management - The co-ordinator should be confident and articulate and able to lead a team of students and professionals. Skills in presentation and influencing others are key. Some previous experience of fundraising is beneficial but not essential.
- Enthusiasm and commitment - The co-ordinator should be genuinely interested in international development and EWB-UK’s work.
- Personal effectiveness and organisation - The role is anticipated to require a commitment of around 10 hours per week so excellent organisational skills will be needed.
- Ability to travel to London - Most meetings with potential and existing funders are likely to take place in London so the co-ordinator should be willing to travel here around 3 times per month (all reasonable travel expenses are covered by EWB-UK).
- The position is open to either a student or professional.

- Professional training - EWB-UK will also pay for the co-ordinator to attend appropriate courses on fundraising run by external experts such as BOND (British Overseas NGOs for Development).

Future prospects:
- Previous holders of the position have been awarded leadership scholarships from the Royal Academy of Engineering, obtained work with a large charity directly after graduation or gained graduate employment with a major engineering firm. However the transferable skills gained will be highly sought after by a variety of employers.
