Knowledge
This section of our site draws together some of the knowledge learnt within EWB-UK’s vast range of activities. Training course material and technical reports from our placements and research projects are published in order to act as a learning resource for anyone currently carrying out projects in the field or from a laboratory in their own country. Project case studies also draw on some lessons learnt by EWB-UK on how to carry out a successful project and the more social aspects that are equally important when working with communities in development.
This knowledge has been divided into our EWB-UK’s 6 Communities of Practice. These communities’ best represent the areas that EWB-UK is currently involved in:

Habitat and shelter play an underlying role in the quality of
life and is a basic need for survival. EWB-UK has several placements in
this area and strong links with partnering NGO's such as Shelter Centre.

Industry focuses on manufacturing processes and design for development. Skills in this area can provide people with the opportunity to start small enterprises and businesses therefore working further towards the alleviation of poverty. |

Transport is supported by infrastructure, and is often essential in allowing people to have access to education, health care facilities as well as jobs or vital resources to live every day lives. |

|
Access to clean water and sanitation is a widespread issue in development, appropriate technology and innovative design can help to tackle this problem. |
