Applications for bursaries are now open!

The bursary scheme provides funding for member-initiated non EWB-UK learning opportunities, research projects and volunteer placements which contribute to the personal development of our members and benefit partner development organisations.

So far, EWB-UK has supported over 50 projects with partner organisations in more than 25 countries, including earthquake resistant housing in El Salvador, and community bridge construction in Malawi.

What it funds

EWB-UK provides funding for its members, students and recent graduates, in the following areas:

• learning opportunities: non EWB-UK training courses
• research: overseas field research in the area of development engineering, as part of an undergraduate course, Masters/PhD, or independent research. Please note that applications for UK-based research should go through the EWB-UK research scheme.
• volunteer placements. EWB-UK placements are not funded by the bursary scheme.

The scheme only provides funding for personal costs such as travel, accommodation, insurance, visas, vaccinations and medication.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for a bursary, applicants must:

• be a UK citizen or resident
• be a member of EWB-UK
• be a student or recent graduate (within four years)

When can I apply?

Applications for bursaries can be submitted throughout the year and will be reviewed periodically.

To ensure your application is reviewed at the next panel meeting please submit your application by 18th January. You will hear the results of your application within 4 weeks of this date.
